Forcefeedback joysticks

Hi,

I'm running XP Home on a Pentium 3 with a cable
connection. My trouble is that lately, my microsoft
force feedback joystick and logitech joystick also with
FFB act as though they are "possessed" or like there is
an invisible hand guiding them. I never used to have
this problem and have been trying to work with Microsoft
techs on the issue, but everything they've had me do
(uninstall, reinstall, etc, etc, etc) just has NOT worked.
I'm hoping someone will read this and will have had the
same experience and will have had luck with solving the
problem. I consider myself moderately saavy with the
computer so any suggestions are truly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I am not sure of the exact model of Logitech device you have but the
Microsoft device has a small light sensor at the bottom front of where you
grip. If this gets blocked it will think there is someone holding it and
will allow the device to play forces. The older Logitech Wingman Force and
the newer Wingman Strikeforce 3D also have this. These devices should only
play forces if these sensors think it is dark. I run tests on these devices
that send forces to the devices and they never play unless I hold them. Can
you give me more information on what programs are running when you get these
forces? Also, do both devices play forces at the same time? If so are they
playing the same force? This would be REALLY wierd if they do because
DirectInput only supports playing forces to one device at a time.
