RE: my "Page size" question this morning, your response, and my response to
that, stating that the OS measurement system in that computer is US, not
Metric.... and that something else is keeping PowerPoint from displaying US
(inches) measurements.

All I want to do is have PowerPoint display in inches... and I can't get it
to switch. I've re-entered the setup in control panel, rebooted, to no
effect.

Do you have any more suggestions on what might fix this problem?

thx

We've seen this crop up a few times, but I don't know that we have the
answer. Usually when people go to the Control Panel/Regional Settings
area and reset to US, they miss the "custom" button where you'd reset
the measurements. It doesn't seem that this is what's happening in your
case.

I know that's got to be frustrating. I was going to suggest that you
reset the system to UK or something, reboot, reset to US and reboot
again. Seems you've tried at least something similar, so I don't know
that my suggestion's worth the bandwidth it's taken to post it!
Do you have any more suggestions on what might fix this problem?

I wonder if this is something that a Windows service pack or anything
has taken care of? Are you up-to-date with Windows service
packs/releases?

Thanks for the help.

Switching to metric, then back again, fixed the problem. Word didn't
switch, because it has its own options in Tools... but Excel, Project,
Publisher and Front Page all switched and then switched back... PowerPoint
caught the switch back, and is in inches now.

Weird how MS sometimes can't make its programs talk right. I had a heck of
a time in Project when I used a 24 hour clock in Control Panel and Project
then wouldn't let me change the start date for a project... had to be
today's date. Took forever to figure that one out. But once I went to a 12
hour clock, Project was fine... when I switched back to 24 hour, Project
stayed fine.

Sigh.

And thank YOU for posting the fix!

This has come up a few times before without any happy resolution.
Now we've got something to tell folk. Much obliged.

Hello Samsome,

Thank you for posting the fix,

Wouldn't it be nice, however, if, in the future, you would not have to rely
on the Regional and Language Options to choose the units of measurement in
PowerPoint?

If it's important to you (or anyone else reading this message) PowerPoint
to provide the ability to control the units of measurement from directly
within PowerPoint as either a PowerPoint setting or a per-presentation
setting, don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Samsone-
I think this is as close as you are ever going to get to a direct hint from
John to submit a wish. I have the feeling that he knows you are the only one
who has hit this!
