When I use Outline View in Word 2003, I can disable "Show Formatting",
which yields a font that looks like Times [Roman?]. How set the font
that is used? Thanks.

Hmmm. Was hoping that it had its own style, since I like Normal the
way it is. oh well. Thanks anyway!

Modify the font of the Normal style. In the Modify Style dialog box, click
Format, and then click Font. Choose the desired font. Click OK twice.

To display the Modify Style dialog box for the Normal style, seehttp://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ModifyAStyle.html.
