Folders/desktop crashing

S

Sam

On occasion and on some specific folders, opening them or
keeping them open for a while causes the [desktop?] to
crash, everything disappears including desktop icons and
taskbar except for the wallpaper and reappears with all
open folders crashed and certain icon in the notification
area of the taskbar gone (but are still active).

I have defragged, scanned disk for errors witht the tool
that came with XP and did a full system checkup with
Norton Systemworks 2004 and scanned for viruses but
nothing helps.

Is there any way to fix this annoying problem?

Be sure your device drivers are up to date XP versions,
esp. the video card. Try the system file checker tool by
click start, run, and type in; " sfc /scannow " with that
space after the sfc, and have your XP CD ready if needed.
