Folder Redirection & Terminal Services

If I have folder redirection redirecting My Docs to the server, let's say
D:\USERS\<USERNAME>\MY DOCUMENTS, and I have users that work both locally
and via Terminal Services, will their My Docs in the TS session redirect to
the proper location on the server (D:\USERS\<USERNAME>\MY DOCUMENTS ??

Hi Tim,

Thank you for posting!

Generally speaking, the user that works in the session of Console and in
the session of Terminal Service shares the same user profile. That is to
say, they use the same configuration of My Documents, a.k.a, the user's My
Documents in the Terminal Service session will redirect to the remote
location as well.

That's what I was hoping for. I'm testing it out today and I'll let you know
how it goes. Thanks!

One other question about this matter though. What is the best practice for
laptops who will be connecting both on the network AND via Term Svcs? Should
I do folder redirection? Does the synchronization work seamlessly enough?
What is the best practice for this sort of thing?

Hi Tim,

I wonder whether or not all of these laptops and all of these users should
share the same My Documents folder. If it is the case, I believe that your
solution Is the best choice. However, the file might be locked if it is
opened in another laptop or Terminal Service sessions. If each user will
use their own My Documents folder and you have a domain environment. You
may use Roaming Profiles as a solution.
