Folder Properties not available

After a year of using Windows XP with no problems, I suddenly can't access
the properties dialog for a folder. I can right click on a folder, and
click properties, or sharing, but nothing happens. I can get properties on
drives, and files, just not folders. Ideas?

Sounds to me like a job for Startup Mechanic, Ad-Aware,
or Spybot.

I have Norton SytemWorks Pro 2003, Norton Internet Security Pro 2004,
Spybot, and a hardware firewall. No viruses found, no bots aside from
tracking cookies found, and they were all removed. I'm still looking for an
answer to this... Anybody?

This may be a damaged section in the registry. Try this, which will put
things back to standard: may not work but will do no harm

Make the following, after - - start and before - - end into a file by
cut/paste to NotePad. Don't let lines wrap around. [HEY through
matching ] is always one line, with @=" starting the next. Make sure
there is a blank line at the end. Save as "Patch.reg" then right-click
on this file and take Merge to enter it into the registry.
