Folder names disappeared.

My brother just called. He is running Windows Vista Home Premium on a
computer that is not, and never has been, connected to the Internet. So, no
updates of any kind.

The only applications are in support of his Epson Stylus Photo R4800 printer
and an Epson Perfection V750-M Pro scanner, Photoshop CS3.

His routine is to scan either 35mm or 6cm X 6cm slides, place the images in
folders and occasionally print one.

Now for the problem: The folder and file names are not visible. If he hovers
the pointer over the name, it appears. He can rename it, it is visible while
typing the new name, and the new name also becomes not visible.

I had him reboot. No change.

Any thoughts?

Right-click in the folder background -> View -> uncheck 'Hide File Names'

This option only appears in folders using the Pictures & Videos template, so
if that option doesn't appear, use the 'Customize this Folder' option to
select the Pics & Vides template.

Keith,

I gave him a call, he now has his file name and folders are back.

He asked me to give you a big THANK YOU!
