folder lost in applications cannot retrieve files

Hola

I put a bunch of digital photos in a folder, plus some photoshop versions of
them. I thought the folder was going to on the desktop, but it somehow got
placed in some applications folder that i couldn't ever find. I had a
shortcut to the folder on the desktop that worked for awhile, but something
went kooky and the shortcut starting to some other random folder with other
digital photos. Now I cannot find any of the original photos or their
photoshop versions. I tried restoring the computer to various times in the
last few weeks and didn't find anything different. Then the computer had an
update that required it to restart. When it restarted and I retried the
shortcut, it brought up the correct folder and all its contents. I
immediately attempted to transfer the files to a cd but when it was done it
said to "finish" and seemed to delete the files (without my wishing to). The
disc that should have received the files appeared to be empty or corrupted.
Now I am back to where I was, not being able to find any of the correct files.

Obviously I am a computer neophyte and do not know if I have enough info to
even clearly explain what happened, but have never deleted any of these files
and really hope I figured out how recover them. Any suggestions?

Hola, Rabbitmonk.

Have you looked in C:\Users\Rabbitmonk\Pictures?

Of course, if Rabbitmonk is not your User name, then change that part of the
pathname.

Or just click on the Orb (what we used to call the Start button in WinXP),
then on Pictures in the Start menu. If you right-click on Pictures, then
click Explore, Vista will open Windows Explorer with your Pictures folder.
Among other things to do while here, be sure to click on the little icon at
the left end of the Address box up at the top so that you can see the full
pathname of this Pictures folder.

and really hope I figured out howrecoverthem. Any suggestions?

You can try to find and recover your files using Easy File Undelete
program:

http://www.munsoft.com/EasyFileUndelete/

It will help you to recover deleted files and even if there aren't any
information about
those lost files but data is still present on your drive.
