Folder automatically opens on boot-up

I have a folder which opens every time I start up the machine.

This is the folder which contains the program to view photos on a CD ie it
has been supplied with the CD by the photo store.

Where is the folder which automatically launches applications etc when one
boots up?

Is there any other explanation.

It is not a big deal, except I have to close it every time after booting up.

Download autoruns from here. Hopefully it will tell you where this folder
is loading from.

There may be a start-up item that does not have the quotations set properly
which can cause this.

Look in these two registry locations:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
and
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

If the folder that is opening is:

c:\program files\canon

then look for an entry value like:

c:\program files\canon utilities\some.exe

The entry value should have quotations wrap around it like:

"c:\program files\canon utilities\some.exe"

This should prevent the "c:\program files\canon" folder from opening on
start-up and start the Canon Utility file.

How do you do this?

I have done a search on Explorer and can't find any folder called
CurrentVersion.

It's not a folder. It's a key in the registry. Don't worry about it if
unchecking the entry in autoruns worked for you.

I have downloaded auto. I have removed the tick against what is the likely
program.

I haven't yet rebooted but I will then be able to see whether it has
worked.

Otherwise I will have to look further in to the program.

Ok, though why you haven't already rebooted to test it, I don't know, but in
any event post back if there are still problems.

I wish to report back that the folder no longer appears at boot-up.

Thanks very much

I have previously posted that your suggestion was effective.

Thanks

PS I know that it might have appeared but I haven't received it.
