floppy drive

My 3.5" floppy drive (drive "a") doesn't work since
loading windows xp (worked with windows me)_Manufacturer
shows "standard floppy disk drives", driver is system 32\
drivers\flpydsk.sys. Driver provider is microsoft version
5.1.2600.0. Device manager says device is enabled and
working properly, but it will not read disks (will not
read volumes or addresses)

Check for loose cable, if it still does not read or format disks, I would
get a new one.
