Flash Player won't Install

This is my last problem I'm going to try to fix with a Microsoft product
before I throw them out the "Window" and make my next computer purchase a Mac.

The newer versions of FlashPlayer will not install using Internet Explorer
6. It installed fine using Firefox, which I've been using fine for some time
now. But now there is some video I want to access on MSN.com and it only
runs via Internet Explorer (what a shock), and its requiring me to download
the newest version of FlashPlayer to access the site.

Here is what happens when I try to download/install Flash Player:
1. I go to
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash and click on "Install Now"

2. On the next screen, a yellow bar appears at the top of the screen saying
"This site might require the following ActiveX control: 'Adobe Flash Player
9' from 'Adobe Systems Incoroporated', Click here to Install..." So I click
it...

3. The next screen appears and a window pops up asking if I want to install
this software (Adobe Flash Player 9). I click "Install" and the hourglass
appears for a few seconds then the screen refreshes and nothing else ever
happens. The program does not appear to be inatalled. I still can't access
these sites, even after rebooting.

What do I do. Please help.

Try uninstalling Macromedia Flash Player with Adobe Flash Player
Uninstaller:

And then reinstall it.

Hi dnamertz,

I've had the same problem, and have finally managed to nail it. It's
not an Adobe / Flash player problem as such, it's down to the
registering of the Flash9.ocx file - the permissions to do so in the
registry will likely be absent - as they were with me. Do the following
:

- Open your registry using regedit
- Right click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and hit permissions
- I noticed in mine I just had "Everyone" and that was it! It's meant
to have "Administrators" and "Power Users" who should both have FULL
permissions over this branch of the registry...
- Add these groups in and give them full control (I assume you are an
administraor)
- Hit the ADVANCED button and tick the "Replace permissions on all
child objects ... " box.
- Hit ok, wait a while for the permission to propogate
- install Flash 9

Worked a treat for me.

Hope it helps,

Paul

Yeah, I did that Pablo and the next thing I know I get a message that
tells me my version of Windows is not 'genuine'. Thanks dude. Had to
restore my computer to a previous date. Worked like a charm? Shove it
up your ass. This damn flash player will not install properly no
matter what I do.
