Flag for Followup

I would like to put messages into folders so that they are not cluttering my
inbox and flag them for follow up in the future. It was my understanding
that doing so would then have a reminder pop up at the date and time I had
selected for followup. However, this is not happening. It seems to be
working fine when I leave the message in my inbox, but if I file it then I
get no reminder notice. Am I doing something wrong? Please advise.

Reminders only fire in the default folders - you'll need to use a 3rd party
utility (www.slovaktech.com's reminder manager) or change your message
management techniques - instead of moving messages, use views to show or
hide flagged items.
