Firewire Not Working

K

Kent Moore

Hi:

I am not sure if my problem is related to windows or not. I just bought an
Iomega external hard drive with both firewire and USB connections. The USB
seems to be working fine. But when I hook it up to my new firewire PCI
card, I receive "Delay Write Failed" error messages. I have downloaded this
from Microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...07-18b5-4112-8bd6-8bf4bd3130b9&displaylang=en

And tried all on this page except for the registry change.

I talked to Iomega and they could not solve it except to say try a new
Firewire PCI card which I may do. Thanks for any suggestions. Kent

I am using XP SP2 on a fairly new Dell Dimension 8400.

For your external firewire drive, try turning off write caching in;

Why don't you answer the original poster. Note that I have no problems
with external drives.

Thanks Detlev. I tried the download and it did not work but I appreciate
your help. Kent

Thanks for the info, Treeman. The drive is already set to "Optimize for
quick removal." Thanks for the link too. That is a lot of info and I will
go through it gradually. Kent

You're certainly welcome, Kent. If I were you, I'd focus on the
new Firewire PCI card next. Good luck.
