Firewall suitable for XP

Roger

Hi,
Could you please suggest freeware firewall for xp pro sp2.That will give no
conflicts. I have standard xp firewall, Adaware SE, AVG anti virus, and
ccleaner. They work well with each other. But wonder if I need more
protection with other firewall. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm using Zone Alarm Free version. No problems, no conflicts on two XP
3 XP computers here. Two running XP Home, I running XP Pro.

The Windows XP built-in firewall is fully adequate for protecting
against intrusions from hackers etc.

However what it does not do is to protect against unwanted outgoing
traffic from your computer, such as applications trying to "phone
home".

My personal opinion is that if something has gotten onto your computer
and is attempting to access the Internet without your knowledge or
permission for some reason then it is already "too late" and your
malware detection/prevention measures are inadequate.

Zone Alarm (www.zonelabs.com) is perhaps the most widely used of the
two-way firewall products and they have a version that is free for
personal use.

When I am working on a computer with Internet related problems one of
the first things I do is to get rid of any third-party firewalls,
especially Zone-Alarm. Other than Norton/Symantec products, these
firewalls are the most likely culprits for causing such problems.

Good luck
