Firewall exceptions - "No firewall is on"

I recently upgraded from XP SP1 to SP2 and changed from Norton AV 2006
to the latest AVG. I just started up and a balloon tip appeared that
said "No firewall is on."

I checked the Windows Security box and it said the firewall was on,
but some exceptions were on. Three of the exceptions were exe files
that start with avg. Should I change that?

I looked through my AVG and saw no firewall properties although these
are mentioned in their help files.

I've been using it like this for a few days but this is the first time
I've seen that balloon tip.

Thanks.

These exceptions were probably installed by Norton when you upgraded
your antivirus software.

If these are the only exceptions you're unsure of and Windows firewall
is turned on, it's unlikely you have anything to worry about.

As I said, I recently stopped using Norton and started using AVG.

Then you want firewall exceptions for AVG. i.e., you don't want AVG
blocked.
