Fingerprint/Digital Persona Installation Issue

Tristan

Hi:
I am unable to get the program to install correctly in Vista 32. Have tried
both version 2.0 and 2.01. Keep getting the error message "User Properties
Error Invalid String Class. Suspect Installation Issue".

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Many thanks.

Hi there:
I have admin on this computer.

The message comes up after the reboot, following the installation. What is
supposed to happen is for the fingerprint registration thingy to open.
Instead, I get the aforementioned error message. The message also occurs if
I attempt to open the wizard by right-clicking on the icon in the taskbar, or
using the appropriate icon in the start menu.

I suspect that is DEP (Data Execution Prevention). For my system I had to
add several items to the DEP exception list.

DPConsol Module
DpFpLogonManager Module
DPHOST Module
DPPRAgnt Module
DPTunDll Module
DPWinLct Module
Export Import Utility

I suspect that not all of them are needed but I was not up to change/test
for so many possibilities.

Right Click Computer
Properties
Advanced System Settings
Advanced Tab
Performance Setting button
Data Execution Prevention Tab
The button for Turn on DEP should be set
Click ADD button
Browse to
C:\Program Files\DigitalPersona\Bin
Add each of the programs (not the directories), only lets you do one at a
time.

This failure has been around long enough that Microsoft should have it fixed
by now but they seem to be asleep on this one.

Thanks for the effort.
I have solved the problem by re-installing xp pro, then installing the
fingerprint software, and then upgrading to vista business. This may seem to
have been an extreme action, but I did get the g.d. thing to work properly.

Thanks again.
