Finding Downloads

I've downloaded a few times using Vista. Sometimes the files go where I ask:
in my downloads folder. Othertimes, Vista tells me it protected me from the
file and stored it elsewhere. I've been able to find this folder before but
now am at my wits' end. I know it has "virtualized" in the name. It is also
located in a temporary internet files folder . . . somewhere. I can't find
it this time.
I've just downloaded a trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements and am
assuming that the file is in this folder since it is not in my "Downloads"
folder--even though subsequent attempts to download the file again tell me
that the files already exist in my "Downloads" folder--yet I cannot see them.
I've rebooted several times. Selected the option to see hidden files and
folders. It's no use. I can't find these files. They're helfy things that
take over an hour to download using DSL. Any suggestions?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Miles,
Also see if there is a "compatibility files" tab in explorer when you are in
the downloads folder. It will exist if there is something in the virtual
store associated with that folder. Select the tab and it will take you to the
store. I usually see it in my Windows folder since some programs download to
the virtual store associated with it.
