Missing files

Upgraded my Dell XPS-dual core desktop with Raid-0 HDD to Vista Home-P from
XP on 2/28. All went well. Afterward I could access folder with my
downloaded work files, location "C:\program files\DL". On 3/2 I ran Vista
defrag, which seemed to run 5hrs to defrag 50GB of files. Now, after defrag
I'm missing entire folder C:\program files\DL plus downloaded files. Can't
access or see them with Win-Exp, can't find them using search, nowhere on the
HD. However, I can see the most recient ones and execute them from the
download manager I used to download the files. When I execute the file and
check properties it shows the location to be "C:\program files\DL", which is
what it should be. I did download a few files with the download manager
while defrag was running in the background.

As far as Vista is concerned my "C:\program files\DL" folder with over 300
files does not exist. What happened? Did the folder location get dropped
from the FAT? Suggestions? How can I recover them? I've not noticed
anything else missing, all programs run and files in what was "my docs" are
present.

Never mind, found it, virtualization at work. With all these "access
denied", new names and files stuck in places I'd never find I'm about to cry
out...Give Me XP Back!!
