~files found on pc

Hello,

I have noticed random '~' files on our pc. When I open
the file, it is actually a hybrid of many partial files -
not necessarily related.
Has anyone experienced this? I am not talking about the
backup copy that is created with ~filename. I am trying
to determine if this is virus-related, maybe spyrware?

Word creates many temp files that being with a tilde. Ordinarily these are
deleted when you close a document or quit Word. If you're seeing partial
files, make sure you don't have Fast Saves enabled (Save tab of Tools |
Options).
