~$filename showing in files

I am now getting a duplicate file in every folder when I open a Word doc. The
duplicate file name is "shaded" and always starts with ~$ How do I stop
this from happening?

You don't; they are required by Word to operate. They are harmless and
necessary. What is your objection to them? Did you read the article?
