File open problem

Right-click its icon and choose Open With (if you can). Otherwise,
double-click it, choose "Select a program from a list of installed programs"
and click OK. Either way you end up in the Open With options.

Choose your program, select "Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file" and click OK.

How can i set any file with previous unknow appliction

i mean i have file which name is .sub now wrongly i open that file in notpad
now how can i change its with unknown appliction setting

plz help me
