File not a MP3

I have downloaded some music files that are just called file. What program
are these
recorded with? Is there a converter that will convert these to MP3? They
play
well on media player and real player, but not on others. Thanks for any
help.

Try copying them and renaming using .mp3 on the end.
Then see what happens.
They must be in a format that windows knows or they woul never play.
Maybe you have hide known file extensions set on the pc.
That way no mp3 will show as .mp3
no wav as .wav.......................
