File > Insert picture window

I have Windows XP and Office XP. In Word 2002, when I choose Insert >
Picture > From File..., the Insert Picture window appears. Down the
left-hand side of this, there's the following links: History, My Documents,
Desktop, Favorites, My Network Places. Is it possible to add my own links
here? Also, can I stop some of these links from appearing since some (eg My
Network Places) aren't useful to me.

Also within the main panel, the files/folders are shown as thumbnails, but I
prefer to have them as the Details view. I know that I can change this to
details with the Views button in the top toolbar, but when I close the
Insert Picture window then choose Insert > Picture > From File... again
later, the view defaults back to Thumbnails. Is there a way to make the view
default to Details? I'm sure I didn't get Thumbnails in Word 97.

See http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/customize_the_word_places_bar.htm for
the answer to your first question. As for the second, I think the thumbnail
view is hard-coded into Word for the Insert Picture dialog. Sorry.
