File Extensions

How can I change a file extension in Windows XP Home? I
am used to the "File Manager" in Windows 98 where file
extensions can be readily changed and that doesn't seem
to be avilable in XP.

File Manager is a relic from Windows 3.x. Beginning with Windows 95, File
Manager was replaced by Windows Explorer, and so it is to this day. File
Manager and Program Manager were retained in the Windows 9x operating
systems for folks who needed some help adapting to the new interface.
They've been dropped entirely in XP.

To change a file extension you right-click on the file, select Rename,
change the extension and then press 'Enter' on your keyboard. Note: When you
change a file extension, the file may become unusable.

Right click on the file itself, click rename, and arrow
back to change the extension.
