File after saving is disappeared?

Hi,

I have a really strange problem, I've been struggling for a day and could
not figure out what's going to make this happen.
A user came to me saying that she was working on a huge excel file and she
saved it and did file-close. This file is on a network share drive H:. Then
she went back to look for the file, it's not there. And she went back to
excel, the saved file link was still there, she clicked on it, it gave her
error message " the file cannot be found....". I searched the whole file
server and her hard drive. Couldn't find any, I'm just stumped. She
convinced that she did save, and then the file is disappeared. Can someone
explain how could this happen?
I like to find out the reason to prevent furture mistake or problems.

Appreciate any thought.

Sarah

Could be a number of possibilities, but I don't think it was Excel. Wa
the file sent via email then saved? Did she "save" or "save as"? Mor
info required

Look on the local harddrives, too.

And you may want to use windows start button|Find/Search to look for *.xls using
that date.

Thank you everyone for your reply.
The file was residing on a network shared folder, she's been using it for a
while. She did some updates, she said she hit save button, then it's gone
from the network drive. I searched the whole file server and her local hard
disk, can't find anything.
Isn't that weird?

I'd say it was very, very, very unusual.

In fact, when this sort of thing happens to me (or my coworkers), I don't blame
excel. It invariably turns out to be human error. (and I mean my error.)
