Hello All,

I am trying to find out if it is possible to allow access to a file on the
server but prevent the user from deleting the file, and if so how is this
implemented? Also, I would like to know if the event viewer is able to tell
you what user or workstation deleted it, and can they be recovered when they
were deleted through a mapped drive. Any ideas??

Keith answered your other post. Your question on recovering deleted
files. Yes there are third party programs that can show deleted files and
attempt to recover them - many times sucessfully. Do a Google serach for
"Windows file recovery" . Read the fine print. Some are free or offer a
trial period, but will only recover small files - at least you get to try
them out. Some will not work on fat32. See link to one that I have had luck
with [File Scavenger] and is fairly inexpensive. --- Steve
