Faxing to Canon Image Runner 210

I gather from previous posts that the XP Fax Console cannot be set up
to send faxes to a networked fax server such as the Canon iR 210. I
have set up the Canon fax-printer driver so that I can send individual
faxes from XP over the network to it, but have not figured out how to
send merged faxes from Outlook or Word using this method.

We currently send out merged faxes using Word 97 and Outlook 98 on
Win98 over the network to a Win98 fax server. I'd like to upgrade
these systems.

A few questions:

1) First, am I correct that the Fax Console cannot be used to send
faxes to the Canon, or to any other fax printer other than Microsoft's
own (i.e. from SBS or Server 2003)? The documentation makes no mention
of that: It says, "you only need a connection to a remote fax printer."
I also have a Win98 fax server on the network -- I assume it won't
work with that either?

2) Has anyone figured out how to use Word or Outlook to send merged
faxes using just a fax printer driver, such as the fax printer driver
for the Canon?

3) If 1 and 2 don't pan out, does anyone know of any good software that
will allow the use of the Canon fax server (or even a Win98 fax server)
with Outlook/Word merges? I'm certainly willing to purchase more
software if we have to, but my users are used to the old way, and I'm
hoping not to have to change too much for them.

Thanks much. I appreciate any help anyone can give.

1) Windows XP Fax can only serve as a client to Windows 2003 Fax or SBS Fax
2), 3) Answer should be provided by the third party app you are using. Since
this group only supports Windows XP Fax, you'll not likely find an answer
here.
