Send Fax Wizard never starts with network fax

E

Edward

One machine on the network is unable to send faxes to a Server 2003 shared
fax. I have tested and all other machines can send faxes fine. This
particular machine can send faxes to its local fax, but when it attempts to
send a fax with to the shared fax, the document appears to "print" fine, but
the Send Fax wizard never starts. Same happens if I use the "send fax" link
in the Printers and faxes folder and select the shared fax from the list.

List the precise steps you used to connect the client to the server.

1. Opened the Printers and Faxes folder.
2. Clicked "Add a printer" and selected network printer
3. Selected "Connect to this printer" and typed the path to the network fax
(\\server02\Fax) - second option
4. Clicked next and did not select to make it the default
5. Wizard finished

Just use \\servername in the text box for remote server.

I can't do that. When I click next, I get the message:

---------------------------
Connect to Printer
---------------------------
Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed
incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server.
For more information, click Help.
---------------------------
OK Help
---------------------------

I tried browsing to the server in Explorer and double clicking the printer
though - made no difference at all.

I assume you are running as an administrator when configuring the fax and
have given users appropriate permissions.

Not just an administrator Russ, a Domain Admin (which is a local
administrator on every box).
