Fax keeps dialing

Windows XP. When fax fails to make a connection and I select
disconnect, about a minute or two later, the fax starts dialing again.
In fact, even after a second disconnect it will dial a third time...then
it stops this automatic dialing. I would imagine that there is a repeat
dialing selection that I'd like to disable, but I can't find it. Thanks
for your help.

Did you press disconnect on the Fax Console or dialog that appears?

Follow instructions, but do the opposite:

Yes, I did. Each time the unwanted dialog indicating that the fax was
redialing, I selected disconnect. BTW, I do believe that I have
configured the fax services correctly. However, I don't quit understand
what youmean by "do the opposite?"

Had to set retries (in fax properties) to 0.
