Fax Console

I am trying to fax after printing to fax. I go thorugh all the dialogue
boxes but after I hit finish the fax disappears and never shows up in the
console outbox. Regardless of how I try to send a fax it never reaches the
outbox. My fax is online and ready to go, I don't receive any errors
messages either. Help.

State whether fax ever worked and if so what changes were made before it
stopped working. There is no troubleshooting information here for us to use.

The fax has never worked as far as I know. I have had the laptop for about 8
months and only tried it recently. My frustration is also due to the fact
that there are no error messages and the programs themselves, as well as the
fax all say they are running normally. Somehwere things are being lost from
the fax window to the outbox of fax console. Does that help? Thanks.

Not at all. If Fax never worked, then you must provide complete and accurate
information as to how you configured fax, how you are sending the fax, and
what happens when you try. You must also verify that you are using an analog
fax line and a fax modem on the Windows HCL list.

At this point, the possibilities remain endless.

O.k. let's see.
I use the start menu/programs/accesories/communications/fax/fax console
The file/send a fax
Up pops the send a fax wizard
I enter in the dialing and calling information
Select the cover page, hit next
Select when to send and priority
Hit next
Hit finish

After that the fax disappears and never shows up in the outbox. The fax has
been configured with the following info:
Configuration Summary:

Devices configured to send faxes:
Conexant HDA D110 MDC V.92 Modem
The TSID of these devices is Fax.

Devices configured to receive faxes:
Conexant HDA D110 MDC V.92 Modem
Devices are configured to answering incoming fax calls manually.
The CSID of these devices is Fax.
It has been configued to send when I right click on the properties box in
the Printers and faxes window

I have been able to send a fax using another program called Fax Mail for
Windows.

The fax is running when I check it in start/control panal/administrative
tools/services
The properties checked for it are:
General - Start up type:auto
Service status started
Log on - local system account is selected and hardware profile is Profile 1
which is enables
Recovery - take no action is selected for all failure repsonses
Dependencies - service depends on the folowing compnents - plug and play,
print spooler, remote procedure call, telephony.

I am not sure what other data to send you, hope this helps a little. Thanks
again.

There is no additional information here, nor are there answers to my
questions. The fact that you have another fax program that works is a bit of
a clue. XP fax usually won't work if there is another telephony based fax
program installed. Is that what you are trying to convey?

Hi Russ,
I am sorry if I am making this frustrating, I am not very computer literate
and it probably shows.
I only downloaded a different fax program after I could not get XP fax to
work. My basic issue is the fact that the hardware states it is working and
installed, the software seems to work fine. The only issue is that every fax
I try to send disappears once I hit finish on the send a fax dialogue box.
It never makes it to the outbox and the fax never enages and dials.
The other program I downloaded allowed me to fax, but it is not a user
friendly program. Are there any specs that may come into play here?

We'd need the information from any error messages and Event viewer to
troubleshoot. You also need to verify that your modem is on the Windows XP
HCL list and any information from your installation procedure. Also examine
the status of the Fax Service in Administrative Tools.
