Favorites folder location.

Recently, all Favorites links from my IE 6 missed. I found the Favaorites
folder from
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites
was changed to
C:\WINNT\Favorites

I don't know why. I have changed the registry
HKY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\Favorites location.

After reboot, the registery is restored to
C:\WINNT\Favorites.

Anyone knows why?

Maybe something has hijacked your Favourites folder. You could try running
Adaware and Spybot S&D to see if any adware is running.

The entries under Shell Folders are regenerated from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders when the user logs on. You need to change the entry under
User Shell Folders, or possibly both at the same time. The normal
Favorites value under User Shell Folders is of type REG_EXPAND_SZ and
contains "%USERPROFILE%\Favorites" (without the quotes).
