Favorites Folder Empty

OK, I edited my registry so the other profiles could save to their favorites
folder. Was unable to for some unapparent reason. Now when I go on to any (3)
of the profiles the IE-6 Favorites Folder is empty. I mean empty. Just a
white box with a little x in corner. No buttons. I have XP pro. So tried to
restore to earlier date that it was working and it is unable to restore.
Tried to re-install IE and still the same. Any help??

Check the c:\windows\favorites directory. A program I used a while ago moved
my folders from "Documents and Settings\user name" to "windows\ favorites"
(the old path before XP) and didn't warn before doing it. Your problem
doesn't seem to be the same but it is easy enough to check just in case.

I didn't think that would help. Any chance the properties may have been
changed to 'hidden'?

Nope, it's not hidden either. I found all of my favorites through the windows
file but in internet explorer it's still just a plain white box. Any chance I
can click and drag or something easy like that??

Where did you find them in explorer?

In the documents and settings\user name folder.
I also have recently installed the microsoft antispyware beta version. Could
that be why I can not restore to an earlier date?? I also have Norton
Antivirus.

Now you got me wondering. I just installed MS antispyware also and have
Norton AV. I've had the folders in windows\favorites for a long time. What
would happen if I moved them back to documents and settings? I might get the
same problem you are having so I'm not enthusiastic in trying it.

Try the repair button in TweakUI. If that doesn't help, the only other thing
I could think of would be to move the favorites as I did. There's probably a
lot of programs to do this but the one I have is Xteq at www.xteq.com . If
you download this it is in the Internet Explorer Files and folders section.
