Favorites disappeared

Suddenly, after using Favorites 20 minutes ago, they have disappeared. My
main concern is what caused this?

I have found them in C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\ Favorites and I am
sure one of you can tell me how to get them back into the IE program !! ??

No idea what caused it but it looks like the Registry entry is wrong.

You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

Alan's instructions should help. If the problem happens again and if you're
using XP Professional (in case), set a registry audit to know what is
changing the Favorites value in the registry:
