Fatal error occurs during FFXI gameplay

Dan

My FFXI always hang during gameplay with a fatal error. A
blue screen would appear with words, it lasted less than
a second and i didnt have time to write down the error
messages. Sometime the game would just hang there and i
have to pull the plug. When i turn back on my laptop it
start to scan my drive for consitency regarding a file
type FAT32. My specs are Centrino 1.4Ghz, 768 RAM, Radeon
Mobility 9200, Motorola SB5100 surfboard modem and a on
board sound card. Sound card and grphic card are updated
to the latest driver. Used to have norton antivirus and
firewall but uninstalled it(becasue i thought it was the
one causing the problem) Have reinstalled the game and
windows but problems persited.

Hi Dan,

Your system is restarting as a result of a STOP error, but not
giving you enough time to note the error. Here's what to do...

To stop this behavior go to Control Panel / System / Advanced /
Click the Startup and Recovery Settings button / Uncheck the box
labelled "Automatically restart" under the System Failure section.

To analyse the error, try the steps in: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

If the error indicates a file name that begins with ati, or nv (nVidia)
the most likely solution would be to install the latest drivers using
the instructions at: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#drivers
