fatal error message

when i try to install windows xp it keeps coming up with
a fatal error message which reads: 'an error has been
encountered that prevents set up from continuing.
one of the components that windows needs to continue
setup could not be installed.
a components file does not match the verification
information present in the component manifest.'
does any1 know wot this means n wot i need to do.
