Well, that's not good if you have to compensatefor it with grease.
You need good contact for it to work well. Is this the newer Zalman HP
or the older one? Or does the same issue apply to both?

It's the ATI design.

The ATI heatsink has the same "problem". Which isn't a problem.

I'm using the ZM80A-HP. I beleive there is a C, not sure of the difference.

I think Zalman changed the design on the ZALMAN ZM80C-HP though to
address this issue. Could be wrong but I seem to remember reading
something about that.

The C is 325g, the A 400g. The C has some kit to stop the two sinks from
twisting and allows a silent fan to be mounted (ZXM-OP1) and apparently is
recommended for the 9800 Pro. Oh well... mines fine. Oh and the A is a
better colour
