Fail to get GP

Hi there,

My network contains 2 DC. Recently my client PC cannot get
the group policy after I login.

So I decide to rejoin domain. After disjoin. I reboot the
PC. When I try to join back the domain, I get error
message say that the network path not find!!

My PC and the DC is in same subnet and can ping each
other. When I try to join the domain, it prompt me for
username and password - so I assume the network connection
is OK. But just that I can't join domain.

All my server and client is SP4 and all security patches
is up-to-date.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I already delete the entry in AD but still the same. I got
the error message say that the domain cannot be find, the
network path not found.

I search the web and try few ways but still the same. I
damn sure my DC not problems because I can rejoin domain
using another client PC without delete the AD entry!

Any ideas?

Thanks

What DNS server is your client pointing to? It must point to the DNS hosted
by your Active Directory *only*.

Chai,

I might suggest that you take a look at GPOTOOL which you can run on the
Domain Controllers. I would then also use GPRESULT on the clients. These
two tools will give you a good idea of what is going on.

As Dave asked, to what DNS Server are your clients pointing? They must all
( Servers included ) point to your internal DNS Server. With WIN2000 if
your DNS is not proper then you are going to have a lot of problems.

I would also suggest that you take a look on the client at the Event Viewer.
There should be something in there!

HTH,

Cary
