and no more to boot nomal or safe and so on.

Why?

I ned to boot in safe mode because problem installing VMWare Player

Hi,

Your BIOS probably uses that as an interrupt. Wait until the POST completes
before hitting F8.

An alternative way of forcing safe mode is to click start/run, type msconfig
and click ok. Click the boot.ini tab, then enable the /safeboot option.
Click apply/ok and reboot and you should go straight to safe mode. Reverse
the steps to resume booting normally.

Thanks.
Indeed, hitting F8 just when choosing the "boot device" from first F8
allowed me to go into safe mode. But I had to be fast ( went twice into XP
instead)
Msconfig tip is useful. Will try to remember that.
Thanks again
