extract images from pdf ?

I got some pdf files with pictures inside... looking for a freeware app to
suck them out... don't care if they come out as jpg or tiff or whatever,
just need to get them out of the pdf files...

XPdf is a bunch of command line tools to manipulate PDF files. One
of them is "pdfimages" which does just what you want.

extract bitmap images from PDF documents and store them as individual image
files.

What is the advantage of this sttand-alone image extraction app in
comparison to the Snapshot Tool in Adobe Reader ? I guess in Foxit
Reader you have something comparable.
So why a specialised app when you have the same fonction as part of a
program that you already use ?
