Explorer slow when comp connected to modem

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 running Windows XP Pro. When the computer is
attached to a Slipstream 5100 modem, Internet Explorer runs very slow. Also,
when I use Explorer to open "My Computer", I get the searchlight and a system
slow-down for several minutes, like it's searching for drives or something.

When connected to the internet via the same modem, I have no problem if I
use Firefox. There's also no problem navigating between folders (i.e., if
I'm in My Documents and going between My Music and My Pictures, etc.)..it's
just if I go to "My Computer".

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Yossarian

Thanks for the help, but it doesn't seem to have worked. I downloaded the
reg file and imported it into the registry, then restarted. I continue to
have the same problem. Any other ideas?

Thanks again,

I had a similar problem. When I started Explorer, it would take a while to
come up. We fixed it by purging my users's profile (we created a new user and
found out that it was not having the same problem.) and copying the old data
to it.
