Explorer Home Page setting

Graham

When opening Internet Explorer 6 I get the following in my
Home Page window: http://t.rack.cc/hp.php. which is not my
designated home page. I have reset my home page multiple
times to my designated page and have followed all the
steps provided in the MS Knowledge Base Article - 320159
and 32896 but am still unable to clear out the problem as
this keeps returning. I have current anti-virus software
and scanned all files.

Any suggestions. What if I were to remove and reinstall
Explorer 6?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, it is about as annoying as hacking can be and I'been
at it for 3 days now trying to fix it! Even got to the
point of considering storing files, reloading Windows XP
and changing email addresses. I am a complete amateur,
but maybe I can help:

I just downloaded the spyware killer on
www.spywareinfo.com.xscan.php (free)

As it ran, up came the site you mentioned and also one
something like 'cool-search', one by one, with a prompt
to erase it - I did so. Went back into IE 6 and found
cool search still there, after the prompted reboot.
However, changed the home page under internet options and
went into yahoo 3 times with no change. We'll see if it
reoccurs.

If you are using YAHOO, the offending hacker seems to
come in and change your home page the moment you go into
YAHOO's main page. But, then there is that prompt that
says 'Make YAHOO your home page' halfway down YAHOO's
page (this lets you know ehen the hacker has gone
into 'Internet Options' to change things; if YAHOO IS
your home page, that prompt does not appear. I clicked
it anyway for a couple of days and it lasted until the
next 'fire up' when I simply clicked it again. I guess
this amateur is waiting to see how long it takes for the
hacker to get back to me. I put in 'SpyKiller's'
and 'HistoryKill's' 30 day free trials yesterday and it
took the hacker about 5 - 10 minutes to disable those 2!

Good luck. If I have said anything unhelpful or
dangerous, would those experts who know better put us all
right. I really am a ham at PC ese!
