explorer.exe hangs when right clicking on desktop

When I right click on the windows desktop, the little menu
does not appear, but explorer.exe starts to use 99% CPU.
Then, nothing happens until I kill it from task manager and
restarts it. The same sympthom appeares also sometimes when
I use the start menu, or right clicks in an empty field in
Windows Explorer. ...and also when i for instance tries to
load a file in winamp without using drag 'n' drop.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have found this to be a problem in many systems that have been upated to
XP SP1, regardless of hardware configuration. It took me about six months
looking for and asking for remedies and I have found that a forthcoming
patch in the SP 2 answered my delimma. Click on
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329692&Product=winxp
#appliesto, scroll down and read what this patch does and click Duser.dll to
download the patch.
