Explorer.exe 99% CPU usage!!!!

My Explorer.exe has the tendency to start using 99% of my CPU usage. This almost always happens when I browse in to a folder containing videos or movies. It happens more often when I am in detailed view but it sometimes happens for not particular reason when I am not using my computer. I can kill it with Task managers but not when I am copying files.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP 1 V2002 and have all the latest updates installed, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 7 with the latest DAT file. There is no hardware conflict in my system view. Most of my drivers are certified by Microsoft except my NVIDIA and Creative drivers.

Is this a common problem with XP? Reinstalling windows did not fix the problem. And the warranty of on the machine has expired. What can I do?

If I may as to be so bold here is one they will charge
you check they will charge you for.
First is to find out what is conflicting within your
system. Type msconfig into your RUN command then select
the Startup Tab then Diable All ,at the bottom ,then OK
and Restart when you restart go somewhere where you know
it sent it to 99% if things run ok restart each by
selecting it with the check in box, the thing is you have
to restart after each check you select. After checking
for conflict check another and so on , it takes awhile
but you should be able to find out where the conflict is
and then go on to resolve it. I would start with McAfee
first. Hope this helps you
