Explorer error with Flash

I have 3 machines, all pretty much the same setup. 1 is XP Home, 2 are
WinMe, all have IE 6, all updates and patches. On only one of the WinMe
machines I get an IE error message when I try to open websites that have
Flash content (www.rr.com, www.guienness.com) . The report box pops up
with this info... AppName: Iexplorer.exe, AppVer: 6.0.280.1106, ModName:
Flash.ocx, ModVer: 7.0.19.0, Offset: 00035df9.

I have run spybot, ad-aware, cwshredder and toolCop, system is clean.
Have tried to repair IE6, Have removed and reloaded Flash per Macromedia
website. Have also tried to install a older version of flash. Have searched
knowledge base on both macromedia and Microsoft, I'm stumped,

These sites work fine on the two other machines. All machines run
similar setups of E-Trust anti-virus and firewall. The malfunctioning one
has recently been wiped clean, reformatted and fresh install of WinMe. It
has little other software installed.

Please help, any suggestions?

I have posted an identical problem and have not yet found a solution. I am
running xp pro on a dell dimension xps r450. Everything but the motherboard
has been upgraded over the years.

I have found a small group of users with this problem at

http://www.nocrash.com/ncbbs/msgs/3091.shtml

but no one there has a solution either. I did note that another individual
with the problem and I are both running the powerleap processor upgrade.

In my case the problem appeared independent of any hardware change. I now
think it could be related to one of the many microsoft patches that I
installed. I reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of XP but
unfortunately I installed all of the upgrades and patches before testing for
the flash problem. It remained and I didn't have the energy to do it all
again so I just didn't removed flash. By the way I have no problem with
shockwave.

I continue to hope for some expert help but this is begininng to feel like
an orphan problem affecting too few of us to get any attention.

Regards,

Jeff

You can make shortcuts to toogle ON/OFF flash. May be it will help in you
finding a solution.

From a previous post.

I made two shortcuts in my Links area under Internet Explorer, which
each run a command:

Flash On:

"C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\regsvr32.exe"
"C:\WinNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx"

Flash Off:

"C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\regsvr32.exe"
"C:\WinNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx" /u

(these are word wrapped for usenet, you must combine the two lines
back together, separated by a space)

Of course, if you're not running an NT-kernel OS, or if you installed
flash in a different directory you'll have to adjust the paths to
regsvr32.exe and swflash.ocx

I am havubf exactly the same problem. I have 3 machines: a
mac (OSX) and two pcs (each running win xp). One of my XP
machines will not run flash in IE 6, no matter how often I
try to re-install it; no matter what the security and
privacy settings are. I have not been able to get an
answer from MS or Macromedia.

Just a thought. I recently disabled Java in IE and
installed Sun java. This was recommended as protection
against browser hijacking, to which I was repeatedly being
subjected. I am wondering if there is a conflict between
it and flash. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone who
is having this problem is running Sun's kava.

Is great to find someone in theexact same boat! I've got
the same problem on 1 of 2 PC's. Both are running XP Home
7 IE 6 with all current updates and SP's. Have also tried
everything that Macromedia has to offer. Help!!!

In my case, I unregistered flash and open the browser again, when it
prompts to install flash on the browser I accepted it. And now it
works fine. If you don't see the prompt when you browse the page, try
register flash again. Don't ask me why though.

This does not add anything meaningful, but I had to join in to say I've
tried everything I found here and there, short of reinstalling IE (pain to
go through all the updates). Still no Flash.
Running WinXP Pro, and the usual assortment of Security programs.
