Explorer Crash - comctl32.dll

Hi,

I have Win XP Pro SP1, Office XP SP2(currently in process of upgrading
to SP3). Randomly explorer crashes on different user machines due to
comctl32.dll.

The event log shows:

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting
module comctl32.dll, version 6.0.2800.1515, fault address 0x00055859

Has anyone else experienced this issue and what have you found to
resolve it?

Thanks,

John

Thanks for the info, however no dialog boxes appear at the time
explorer crashes. Currently explorer just crashes with applications
sitting idle, the only thing is the event log entry below. Office
Service Pack 3 seemed to fix it but it hasn't, only reduced the
incidents of the issue.

Thanks again, however being this is a corporate environment all
machines are based on an image with the original O/S CD unavailable
now. Is there a way to run sfc using the /i386 directory located
elsewhere other than the CD like a local drive?

The comctl32 file seems to indicate it is for W2K not XP, so I am
unwilling to try it due to issues that may arise after changing it.

start, run, type in:
sfc /scannow
Hit enter, have xp cd handy
