Exit Design Mode

I created a form in Word that has checkboxes. Everytime the document is
opened, the Exit Design Mode icon appears and needs to be closed before the
checkboxes can be used. Once done, the form works great. I want to eliminate
this step from the end user as it is causing some confusion.

How can I get the document to Exit Design Mode so the end user can utilize
the form properly?

This is usually a sign that your macro security is set to "High". Change the
security to "Medium" and confirm to Word you want to have the macros activated
and the document should open properly.
