I also downloaded office updates to office 2000
yesterday, 1-8-04, and now it takes 90 seconds to open
excel to a blank worksheet, and about 60 seconds to open
a file. I get the message.,.. "resuesting virus scan"
while it's waiting to open.

You have to go to inernet Explorer - tools - options -
advanced tab and under security, unselect check for
publisher's certificate revocation.
