Can someone please advice?

For the past few weeks, I have been unable to open an excel file direxctly
without first opening the excel application. I get an error message stating
'Cannot find file specified'.
More recently this has also started happening with Word files as well..

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to fix this?

With many thanks in advance
Kind Regards for now

You might want to check associations for that type of file also. Could have
gotten changed by another program.

In addition:

1.Start Excel.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.Under the General tab, click to clear the "Ignore other applications" option, and then click OK.
4.Quit Excel.
