Excel 2000 hangs

I'm having a problem with Excel 2000 on one our network's
machines. Office has been installed from a network
installation point on all the machines, and there has been
no problems until recently. One of the machine would simply
hang upon opening a spreadsheet. Any spreadsheet. Anyone
else could open that spreadsheet fine. So it's not a
problem with the file. Other problems with that machine
lead me to reinstall the operating system, and it has been
fine since. However, the problem has just reocurred on a
different machine. A machine that has never had this
problem before. I'm a little puzzled as to what the problem
might be. Network performance is fine, no permissions have
changed on the file, and again, no other machine has
problems opening that or any other spreadsheets. Your
thoughts would be welcomed.

In addition, I have noticed that opening a spreadsheet is
causing 100% cpu usage, which is making Excel hang. Very
puzzling.

Hi I had the same problem. Reloaded the OS and it re-
ocurred. I have traced it to having printers installed,
no printer = no problem - printer = freeze. It works fine
after removing the printer as well. As we need printers
this appears to be only one step on the journey to
resolution, but may help you narrow it down. PS same
setup as yours, all PC installed from network share and
other users open the files ok.
