EWF setting

Hello Everybody,
I have an image build with Windows logon under infrastructure and
explorer shell. While running the dependency check, I had an error
asking to load the file system such as FAT,
NTFS.... I went on to add NTFS.

Next, since the compact flash I am using is not fixed disk, I had to
enable EWF and followed the MS documentation to set the CF. I again did
an dependency check, and now there where 2 errors. first error was with

ACPI interface and EWF conflicts...... asking to disable NT Loader or
EWF NTLDR.

My question is, Should I build an image adding EWF NTLDR, EWF, EWF
Management console app. and make settings on EWF for CF initially. My
idea build an image with Windows logon and explorer shell same as our
desktop feel.

The documentation for setting an CF (non fixed disk) is very confusing
and scattered. Could have some to explain here on how to making an
setting on CF and about the file system

Thanks

If you want to use EWF you will need EWF NTLOADER as well.
I suggest to use Slobodan's component from here:
http://www.xpefiles.com/viewtopic.php?t=153
About 'non fixed CF': I would try to change it to fixed or switch to a
different product (google this group!).
AFAIK you will not get it work with the CF marked as removable.

First of all, EWF will work just fine with CF marked as removable. I've
done it many times. But as you have already figured out, you have to
use EWF in RAM-Reg mode since you cannot make another partition that
will be recognized by XP on the removable media.

I agree with the confusing documentation. But you don't have to use the
EWF NTLOADER if you use EWF in RAM-Reg mode. I have seen this mentioned
many places, so currently I'm using the standard NT Loader. However, I
have tried both loaders in different builds and it has worked fine.
BUT, you can only have one of them

I would also recommend using the component from Slobodan. This is for
RAM-Reg mode and it's very simple and works fine. But read the
documentation. His component replaces the microsoft "Enhanced Write
Filter" component so don't have this in you build too.

Hope this helps.

Greetings,

I am using EWF in the RAM Reg mode with the CompactFlash card set to Fixed
media and formatted as NTFS. These seem like optimal configurations at this
time. Trying to use the EWF in the RAM (non-Reg) mode seemed to have no
advantages and several caveats.

Should "EWF NTLOADER" or "NTLDR" be used?

My Target build has the "EWF NTLDR" component, and the file resource shows
"c:\ntldr". I thought that earlier I had a file "EWF NTLOADER" that is
mentioned in this thread. My EWF seems to be working OK.

It is not easy to determine if some writes are regularly made to the
CompactFlash that are gentle enough to not exceed the flash's endurance.
Therefore, following the correct build and configuration models would surely
be desirable. There sure is a considerable ambiguity about EWF
configurations.

I think my "ntldr" file in the target's root is "EWF NTLOADER", but how can
this be confirmed?

Thanks for everyone sharing XPe deployment experiences.
